Gumbo lets you use the power of the web to extend the services you already provide onto the web, and to add new ones to help your membership.
Entertainment Venue Database with reviews and ratings
As well as providing full information about what's on in and around your union, you can make your site more attractive to other members by including details of other places to go out in the local area.
From restaurants and bars to cinemas and bowling alleys, they can vote on and review their favourites - at the same time providing you with useful information on what your membership does when they aren't drinking in your union!
You can even use our Entertainment features to generate extra income for your union, by charging other venues to include their listings information, and at the same time driving up traffic through your own ents section by providing invaluable 'What's On' services, uniquely tailored to your membership.
Welfare Section with Agony Aunt feature
Looking after the wellbeing of your students is paramount to your work, we understand that, which is why we developed extensive Welfare facilities as part of Gumbo.
Publish and maintain welfare advice and articles, promote your welfare services, and make use of our innovative Agony Aunt feature.
Presented in a friendly format, our Agony Aunt feature allows members to submit questions anonymously to your Welfare team - whilst choosing whether they want the response to be posted publicly in a friendly column, or to receive a private response to more serious, or more personal questions.
Integrated support for Sports Unions
We understand the important role that Sports Unions have to play in most active student associations, and your Association site also includes a number of features specifically tailored to supporting Sports Clubs.
On their own minisite, your Sports Union can publish their own news, committee list and events information, as well as collating results and fixture lists from all of their constituent clubs.
Your SU minisites can also be precisely tailored to include supporting pages, information on facilities, and much much more.
Classified Marketplace
A classified marketplace provides a simple way for your students to sell unwanted items or services to each other.
As well as supporting general categories, like CDs, Furniture, Clothing, computers etc, the system also has a number of specialised features for selling textbooks.
Any member can add an item to sell, and the system makes it easy to manage sales, and automatically removes items after a couple of weeks to keep the listings fresh.
Accommodation Database with reviews
A built-in accommodation database tracks properties rented to students in your area. Students can post listings, or you can source them direct from Landlords or letting agencies.
As well as posting and browsing listings of available properties, students can also post reviews of properties that they lived in - rating them on things like local amenities, proximity to bus stops, helpfulness of the landlord and so on.
An easy to use listings management system lets you modify any listings, and keep like the marketplace, listings automatically disappear after a couple of weeks if they're not renewed, keeping things fresh.
