Setting up Gumbo

Gumbo is a fully functioning software tool, but to deploy it to your student association there's a process involved.

Step 1 - Getting to know your Union

Our first port of call will be to find out the ins and outs of your specific union. How you work, who's who, what facilities you offer your students and so on. From this we'll be able to build up a picture of what specific Gumbo features you need, and how your site will take shape.

Step 2 - Designing your Website

This is where our design team collects your existing Union branding information, your logos, your colour schemes, your existing publicity material - and creates a design for your website, which we will then wrap around the Gumbo software to create your site.

Step 3 - Setting up the Site/Training

At this point we will make your fledgling website available online at a private address, so that you can start adding material - your existing minutes, committee Lists, lists of clubs and societies etc can be added to your site, as well as news stories, photos and anything other material. This process helps you get to grips with how your site works - which we'll supplement by providing you with documentation, and on-site training if necessary.

Step 4 - The Launch

Once you've added your existing material, and we've finished tailoring your site to fit your association - we're good to go. We'll move your site to its permanent location, using your existing domain name if you have one, or registering a new one if necessary, and we'll provide you with advice, assistance and materials to help promote your website in its early stages.

Timescale

Exactly how long this process will take will vary depending on how fast you can get us material on your student association, and how much custom work we will need to do to fit your association's needs. Typically though, we should be able to get your site up and running within six weeks.
